How Extended Learning Opportunities Can be the Most Versatile Tool in the School Counselor’s Toolbox
Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs) offer a variety of alternative pathways to credit attainment. This session will review not only what an ELO is but how school counselors can harness their power to assist students in meeting their graduation requirements and postsecondary goals.
About Donna Couture, CAGS:
Donna began her career in education as a School Counselor in 2001. Donna’s experience also includes work as a State Personnel Development Grant Coordinator for the NH Department of Education and an Educational Consultant for the Institute on Disability at UNH. Currently Donna is the Director of Extended Learning at Winnacunnet High School and a Leadership Team member of the NH Extended Learning Opportunities Network. She is passionate about building a personalized educational program that allows students to engage in learning opportunities based on their own interests and abilities. Donna has presented on Extended Learning Opportunities at many venues including the NH Learning Initiative’s Design Studio on Competency Based Education, the New England Secondary Schools Consortium’s Conference on High School Redesign in Action, and the Governor’s Summit on Work-Based Learning. Donna was named the NH Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator of the Year in 2016.
